Shepard captures Open title
Earlier in the week, Atlantic Coast Cutting Horse Association director George Wallen gave trainer Austin Shepard a history lesson.

Only one other National Cutting Horse Association World Champions Futurity winner had ever gone on to win the Augusta Futurity Open finals. Make that two.

Queen rules in non-pro finals
One by one, ornery cows slipped past horses in the Futurity Non-Pro finals.

Fifteen of 21 horses lost a cow. And there Elizabeth Queen and Bubble Gum sat in the final draw position. No one ever wants to run last, but on this quiet Saturday evening, Queen saw an opportunity.
